Articles of the Week
On this page you will find links to the various Articles of the Week. Please pay close attention to directions, which are on the pages, and due dates, which are on the course calendar. In general, with each article you will be asked to do three things: read the article, demonstrate a close reading (for which you will need to print the article), and write a one-page response. Your annotated articles and personal responses will usually be due on the first day of each week; in fact, due dates are listed in parentheses.

Directions:
1. Please click here for a link to SIRS Issues Researcher, and type in the User Name and Password given in class.
2. On the list, locate the designated topic for the week.
3. Choose one article from the "Pro" or "Con" side, whichever was assigned to you.
4. Print the article, and read through it carefully, annotating for the main argument and the support that the author
uses.
5. On a separate sheet of paper, detail the authors' arguments. First, note what the main argument of the article is, and then list
the different details/support that the author uses.
6. On the due date, please turn in the annotated articles and the detailed arguments.
